Positive Behavior Support Training

Positive Behavior Support (PBS) training is a multi-level pathway that prepares people to lead person-centered, trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming behavior and support work. Participants learn how to redesign environments, coach support teams, and guide change at both the individual and systems level.
- Understand people in context (nervous system, environment, trauma, and relationships)
- Help design supports that align with the person’s own goals and vision for their life
- Coach families, staff, and teams through real-world change
- Contribute to systems-level projects that influence policy, practice, and training
The certification includes online coursework, live video labs, guided practice, and structured feedback from experienced practitioners. Graduates may use this as training to prepare or suppliment the pursuit of endorsement through VCU / DBHDS for Positive Behavior Support Facilitation endorsement to provide therapeutic consultation – behavior services through the Virginia Medicaid waiver program.
Note that this is not a replacement for coursework required by Virginia and does not offer certification / endorsement at this time.
