Hey y’all! Lawson at Day Services here,

It’s the most wonderful time of the year…Shark Week at Branches! Last week we had a BLAST celebrating shark week! Each day we got to try different activities and learn more about the coolest animals in the ocean!

Cookies– Monday we baked and decorated some jaws-ome cookies while learning new facts about all the different kind of sharks. Did you know there are over 500 known species of shark? Or that a shark’s skeleton is made up of cartilage rather than bone? Neither did we!

Shark Tanks– On Tuesday we made sensory shark tanks out of recycled bottles, sponges, food coloring, and all kinds of glitter. We picked what color glitter glue we wanted to use, how dark we wanted our water to be, what color shark we wanted, and what color glitter we wanted to sprinkle in!

Shark Juice– SHARK JUICE! Maybe it’s because blue Gatorade is my favorite flavor, or maybe I’m a sucker for anything in a giant mason jar, but making shark juice was my favorite thing we did all week! We started with blue Gatorade mixed with Ginger Ale for the water, added some candy and green Twizzlers for rocks and seaweed, and topped it all off with Swedish Fish…or in our case SHARKS!

Shark Paintings– What’s better than paint ‘n’ sip? Paint ‘n’ shark! We brought shark week to a close by painting some sharks and watching last year’s shark week highlights. We were able to watch researchers swim with sharks, and learn more about the equipment they use.

Thank you for reading, and we hope your shark week was as exciting as ours!
